Taro Ice June 28, 2007

I love Taro Ice, the light lavender color, the taste, and the texture. This is what I reward myself every after workout and boxing at the gym. It has a distinctive and unique taste. It’s number one competitor in the country have various flavors, from cafe latte to crème brûlée. I used to patronize that one but when my friends insisted that I should try that one hot afternoon, it won my heart and loyalty. Now, it’s Quickly or nothing.

Quickly - Taro Ice

I haven’t tried the ones with the pudding and everything. I prefer the plain one with pearl (sago). The only thing that saddens me whenever I buy Taro Ice, the sales person do not fill the cup or container to “almost” full but only 3/4 of the cup. Considering it’s only 50 pesos but consumers like me would definitely want to have their money’s worth. I have noticed that they do this regardless of the branch, well; I assume that it must be their S.O.P. But, I just couldn’t assume. With so much like to this product and wanting to have as much as I get with 50 pesos, I asked the sales person why do they only fill 3/4 of the cup. She said it’s really up to that level of the cup. Darn.

I have been checking my blogstats and I noticed that many are searching for articles related to attaching photo in Hotmail e-mail message using computer with Windows Vista. Well, if users of Hotmail and Windows Vista are unable to attach photo in their e-mail or users no longer see the “Attach” option in the Attach drop-down menu, it is because the Photo Upload Tool that we use to attach photos in our e-mail is incompatible with Windows Vista.

Missing a friend… June 16, 2007

Have you ever been so busy that you have forgotten your broken heart?
So tired that you no longer have the strength to feel the pain.

No time to workout, see your friends, or even call them.
Have you been so occupied that in your dreams you are also stressed.

Speaking of seeing your friends, I miss Kerstin. We no longer have the time to talk and meet. I miss the time that we have time in our hands. Those times that we have say if we are going to work the following day after a night out. We used to have hangover after drowning ourselves in pitchers of Zombie.

Noem, Kerst, and I

The picture was taken years ago. I remember that Noem, just got back from Canada. We were just having coffee at a shop in Megastrip. I’m going to call her tonight. Maybe we could just chat like we used to. I’m afraid that she has outgrown me as her friend. She travels, I guess that’s what keeping her occupied but I can’t go with her travels. I don’t have that financial stability.

This was our last stop on our Laguna Loop trip and it’s worth the travel. It is breathtaking. The best scene we have seen on the trip. It was about to rain and thank god that it did not pour. As soon as we got out of the car, the picture below is what welcomes you.

facade of Nagcarlan chapel & cemetery

Beside the perimeter gate is the NHI marker.

about Nagcarlan cemetery

The aisle leading to the chapel is bordered by Santan flower. The landscape emphasizes that it doesn’t need to have expensive architecture and exotic flowers to make a beautiful garden. It could only take manicured lawns and low maintenance flowers.

beds of Santan

The chapel is small. I think it could only accommodate 50-60 people considering that 8 people seated on every pew. The cemetery is below the chapel. The floor is clean and I did not see any cobwebs. We are unable to take pictures on the underground cemetery since it is prohibited. The aura below scares me, its looks like Egyptian tomb that I see in the movies. I would not dare go there alone. Someone sent me same picture taken by J. Aguilar and I thought I would copy or capture the same view. However, J. Aguilar’s photo is far greater shot than mine.

The wall of the place is adorned by classic designed windows. The age and rust added aesthetic beauty.

No Service Charge June 3, 2007

Went on a date few weeks ago and we decide to grab lunch at Pho Hoa in Megamall. I really like the food there, especially the Pho (light), caramelized chicken, and the fried spring roll. We were really having fun until we got the bill. It’s not the amount that pissed me off but the huge stamp accross it saying “No Service Charge.” What’s that supposed to mean?! For me it’s like saying that we HAVE TO tip since they do not have service charge. As if the tip is mandatory. Hello! Customers now are wiser. We have to know what we are paying or paid for . I would know if there is service charge since I read receipts after paying whatever bills I pay.

what I had at Pho Hoa

Is tipping a must? I know that at least you have to tip from 10-20% of the amount of your total bill. I think that the customer should not be obligated to give tips. With the current state of our economy and for a person that is not financially stable like me, tipping is another burden for people since other establishments passes the VAT and local tax to the customers. When I was in the front line of customer service, a smile or simple thank you from the customers is enough. In fairness to the staff, I know that they and we are also feeling the effect of the economic state and small portion of tip is a big help but the employer or the store owner should be the one to compensate the staff because they are the ones who gets richer by the day.

I have nothing against establishments that stamp “No Service Charge” accross bills, I just wanted to know why they have to and what its purpose.

Mabitac, Pakil, & Paete June 1, 2007

Our second stop was Mabitac. I didn’t go all the way up to the church since it was blazing hot that day and I feel like the stairs could go on and on. But when I see this picture, I regret that I did not go to the top to see the view below.

Then, we headed to Pakil.

Pakil church facade

This is the only view of the Pakil church front that I took since there was ongoing mass when we got there.

For me, altar of Pakil church is the most grandeur that I have seen in this trip.

When we got to Paete, my camera went nuts. As if it has its own life ;-) Nah, it’s just user error. The battery’s about to drained out and I didn’t know how I set the shutter to multi-burst that resulted to the picture I took below. With the current heat that time, I didn’t bother to set the camera back to its previous setting and honestly, I didn’t know how. I do not have the manual with me. Lesson learned: should be proactive and bring everything, not just money. Hehehe..
